Project Summary & Public Benefits
Master planning for Vista Brook Park began in fall 2010 and included renovations such as pathways, play equipment, picnic areas, basketball court upgrades, parking improvements, landscape plantings and natural area restoration.
A design for the park redevelopment was prepared by project consultants in response to public input, park management considerations and regulatory factors.
Following the completion of the master plan phase, the design team worked toward approval of the design by multiple regulators, as well as preparation of a construction bid package. Construction was complete in October 2013 and the park was re-opened.
In June 2015, district planning and maintenance staff met on-site with a number of park patrons requesting that there be more shade around the playgrounds and a water fountain with a built in dog bowl be installed. District maintenance staff will be installing several shade trees in Fall 2015 and a new water fountain in Summer 2015. Funding for the water fountain was obtained through a Challenge Grant Fund and the district's Park Advisory Committee.
