Join an experienced environmental educator on an exploratory and educational hike! From bird watching basics to mushroom identification, we can accomodate any group interests. Below are some of our current programs offered by our experience educators. Please allow 1-2 hours for your group to fully engage and enjoy.
The forest has been a source of wonder to people for generations. Join us on a journey of discovery, hear some tales and find out how you can read the forest to gather clues about the creatures living here.
Ages: 4-8 years
Turtles to Toads
There are many mysteries that separate amphibians from reptiles. Through interactive activities learn how these unique animals are adapted to live in our local forest, field and pond habitat.
Ages: 5-10 years
Bug Safari
Head out on a trek to discover some of the coolest and smallest residents of the park. Search for spiders, centipedes and other spineless creatures using magnifiers and nets. Program is available April through October.
Ages: 5-13 years
Wild Habitats
Explore the forests and wetlands of the park with a guide. Discover which animals live in which habitat and what they need to survive through fun activities and inquiry.
Ages: 6-10 years
For the Birds
Discover what makes a bird a bird, what they need to survive and where they live in this egg-citing program. Find out first-hand as we examine bird specimens and use binoculars on a short “birding” expedition into the park.
Ages: 7-11 years
Coyotes, Deer and Squirrels, Oh My!
This program is a great way to learn about the park’s mammals. You’ll touch furs and bones, take a hike into the park and discover some of the clues that our furry friends leave behind.
Ages: 7-11 years
Interactions with Nature
Take a hike through the park to learn about the many connections between humans and wildlife in urban areas. The leader will share stories about interactions in the Nature Park and in everyday urban life.
Ages: 8 years & up
Birds and Beyond Hike
This guided walk will give beginning birders a chance to learn effective birding techniques. Binoculars will be provided as we explore the park in search of native birds and other wildlife species.
Ages: 12 years & up
Park After Dark
Experience nature after dark. These hands-on sessions start off in a classroom learning about bats, coyotes or owls, followed by a guided hike to explore the park at night. This is a regularly scheduled program, please find the classes listed in the THPRD activity guide.

Reservation Information
Group size: 12-60 per program with up to two programs per day.
Time: Programs can be scheduled to accomodate your group's needs. Subject to staff availability.
Availability: Weekdays & Weekends. Programs are rain or shine.
Cost: Prices are listed below. Chaperones and teachers are free.
Prices include up to 12 participants:
1 hour: $60
1.5 hours: $90
2 hours: $120
Prices good through June 30, 2025. Additional fee for additional participants. Please inquire with questions.

Upon confirmation you will receive a guide filled with trip information, pre- and post-visit activities and a map of the park to help your class get the most from their outdoor experience.
Cancellations & Other School Program Policies: Groups that fail to show up on the day of their reservation will be billed for the full program fee. Cancellations must be made in writing at least 14 days in advance.
