UPDATE - NOTICE OF PROJECT SUSPENSION
This project is funded by our 2008 voter-approved bond measure, which included about $15 million for trail development projects throughout the District. Most of these projects have been completed or are under construction. We have received county and state development permit approvals for the North Bethany trail project, but progress has been slowed by a neighbor’s appeals over design concerns.
THPRD has recently been faced with how to balance unexpectedly high costs for other trail development projects with available funding. In May 2013, the Park District decided to suspend further work on this project until funding issues are resolved and design options are better understood. The district doesn't expect to resume work on this project for another three to four years. All neighboring property owners and other interested parties will be notified when work is to resume.

Project Summary & Public Benefits
Trail Segment No. 2 of the North Bethany Trail will provide a complete connection between the Rock Creek Regional Trail and the PCC-Rock Creek Campus. Walkers, runners, cyclists and others will be able to use it for a variety of transportation options, including leisure activity as well as commuting to work or to school. The PCC-Rock Creek Recreation Facility, which THPRD operates and maintains in partnership with Portland Community College, has many amenities such as sports fields, courts, paths, play equipment and open space areas. Families, students, and other individuals will have a safer means of travel to the PCC Rock Creek Campus when Trail Segment No. 2 is completed.
