Phase II of the project added additional seismic upgrades including two new shear walls adjacent to the front doors to support the entry canopy should an earthquake occur. Phase II construction was completed in July 2015.

Project Summary & Public Benefits

The safety of our patrons is one of THPRD's highest concerns. That's why passage of the 2008 bond measure was so important - it allowed the district to attend to important maintenance work and structural upgrades at a number of facilities.

Work at the Beaverton Swim Center was completed in two phases to bring the building up to current safety and earthquake standards.

Phase I occurred in 2013, when the first seismic upgrades were completed. Also in this first phase, the entire interior and exterior of the building was painted, which included brightening the pool area considerably by changing the ceiling color from brown to white. Other work included resurfacing the pool tank, replacing water heaters, and piping and upgrading the roof.

Phase II was completed in July 2015 where the addidtion of shear walls and an upgrade of the entry canopy took place.
