THPRD and Unite Oregon Partnering on Welcoming Walk at Greenway Park

THPRD and Unite Oregon are partnering on a new event this year, a Welcoming Walk on Saturday, September 14 from 10 am to 12 pm at Greenway Park.

The walk is a family-friendly, 2-mile walk to celebrate our immigrant and refugee community members. We will also be exploring the park, natural areas, as well as the trail.

It will be a guided tour, with three stops along the way to learn about THPRD offerings and services.

“THPRD welcomes people of all backgrounds and we aim to ensure that everyone feels welcome. As the daughter of an immigrant, events like this are close to my heart and I can’t wait to be at this first walk and celebrate with everyone,” Felicita Monteblanco, THPRD Board President.

The event is FREE and open to people of all abilities. There will be on-site interpretation for people in Spanish, Somali, and Arabic. Additional languages available upon request, please email lballest@thprd.org to request assistance.

THPRD is proud to be a partner with the City of Beaverton on National Welcoming Week. It is annual series of events, throughout the country, during the week of September 13 – 22, designed to bring together immigrants, refugees, and U.S. born residents to raise awareness of the benefits of welcoming everyone. In addition to the Welcoming Walk, THPRD is hosting additional welcoming events including:

• Celebrating Indian Culture at Conestoga on Friday, September 13, from 6:30 to 9 pm;
• Pequeños Naturalistas at Nature Center on Saturday, September 14, from 10 to 11 am;
• Kid’s Nature Night Out at the Nature Center on Friday, September 20, from 6 to 9 pm;
• Cedar Mill Cider Festival at John Quincy Adams House on Sunday, September 22 from 1 to 4 pm
